Describe an event in history in your country

雅思口語范文：
The historical event I want to talk about is the one related with Qu Yuan.
Qu Yuan was a very famous poet and minister who lived during Warring States Period of ancient China. He is known for his patriotism and contributions to classical poets.
In 278 BC, his country was defeated in a war and even lost its capital. Learning that news, he was so sad that he drowned himself in Miluo River which is in today’s Hunan Province.
After knowing Qu Yuan's action, villagers carried their dumplings and boats to the middle of the river and desperately tried to save him in Miluo River. But it was too late to do so.
In order to keep fish and evil spirits away from his body, they beat drums and splashed water with their paddles. And they also threw rice and dumplings into the water both as a food offering to Qu Yuan's spirit and also to distract fish away from his body.
This is the origin of Dragon Boat Festival, one of the tradition festivals in China. And it is the most impressive historical event in my mind now.
