Something interesting I saw on social media that I’d like to talk about is a milk tea brand that has gone viral in China.
I can’t remember the exact date when it became a hit. But, I’m pretty sure it happened last December. I saw a piece of news on Wechat that told a Hunan-based Milktea called Chayuanyuese had stretched out its first branch store in Wuhan, which is in another province, and caused a craze both on the internet and offline. You know, this article is from Laokaoya website, there were thousands of guests who spent hours waiting in line to get a cup of 20 RMB milk tea. What made it even crazier was that the price had been inflated ten times and it was still not easy to order.
I saw a myriad of youngsters lining and taking pictures with the milk tea and then uploaded them on social media platforms like Instagram, Weibo and WeChat circle to show off. You know, being able to drink this product has become a fashion. It literally resembles the American Starbuck, and I think it is way more exaggerated than that.
Well, the reason why I feel that it was interesting is that this is the first time I’ve heard of people waiting crazily for just a cup of drink. You know, the founder and their marketing team must be brilliant enough to design such a marvelous plan that fully makes the most of the psychology of consumer behaviors.
