The chart below shows male and female fitness membership between 1970 and 2000 in Someland.Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.Write at least 150 words

Overall, the figures for both males and females varied significantly, and 1995 was the busiest year. Over the whole period, there were more male memberships than female.

In terms of males, the figure began at just over 2000, with it doubling to 4k five years later, before dropping back to around 2500 in 1980. It fell further to approximately 1800 in 1985, while it subsequently recovered to around 2k in 1990 and then climbed dramatically to a peak of 5k in 1995. It ended the period significantly lower, at 1k, its lowest point.

That of females followed a similar, yet softer trend. It began at just over 1k, which was the equal lowest figure in the chart as a whole, and doubled to 2k in 1975, before it dipped slightly thereafter. It then rose to 2800 and fell back to 2k in 1985 and 1990 respectively, when it exceeded the male numbers, while it jumped back to the former figure five years later. It fell to 2k at the end of the timeframe, double that of men.
